MYSTIC KABIR

  A 15th CENTURY INDIAN MYSTIC, POET & SAINT

pngtree-bodhi-leaf-skeleton-carrier-imag

Kabir, an ancient Indian mystic, poet, and saint, lived in the city of Varanasi (Kashi). He has been influencing and transforming humanity of all sects (Hindus, Muslims, and Sikhs) with his powerful poetry of the highest Truth. Kabir's blessed words are sure to touch any genuine seeker of The Truth.

Though illiterate, Kabir acquired the inner wisdom and spiritual insight from saints and seers of different faiths.

According to the legend, the only word that he ever learned to write was “Rama”.

Well, RAMA (rāmā) is not only about the MAN who lived as the name exclaims! 'RA' means "radiance" or "light".

'MA' means "mother" or "Mother Nature", or 'me' or a person in common.

  One of his poetry called "Nar tum jhoote" is for your contemplation:

Nar tum jhoote janam gavaayaa

Jhoote ka koi anth na paayaa

Jhoote ke ghar jhoota aayaa

jhoote te parichaayaa

jhooti thaari jhoota bhojan

jhoote le sab khaayaa

jhoote ke ghar jhoota aayaa

jhoota byaah rachaayaa

jhoota dulha jhooti dulhan

jhoote byaahan aayaa

jhoote nar sab jhooti naari

jhoota baalak aayaa

jhooti chhaati jhooti kokhi

jhoota doodh pilaayaa

Saanch kahun mein, jhoot na bolun

Saanche ko jhutlaayaa

Kahe Kabir soi jan saanchaa,

Apne maahi samaayaa

Nar tum jhoote janam gavaayaa;

Jhoote ka koi anth na paayaa!

O man! You have wasted your life in untruth;

You couldn’t ascertain the consequences of this untruth!

Untruth arrived in the house of untruth;

And got introduced to untruth!

Untrue plate, untrue meal;

Eaten by all untruths!

Untruth arrived in the house of untruth;

And married untruth!

Untrue groom, untrue bride;

Untrue marriage took place!

Untrue are all men, untrue women;

An untrue son arrived!

Untrue bosoms, untrue womb;

Untrue milk was fed!

I’m saying the truth, will not lie;

The ultimate truth has been falsified!

Kabir aphorises, “Only he who

dwells in inner self is true!”

O man! You have wasted your life in untruth;

You couldn’t ascertain the consequences of this untruth!

  Kabir Asks...
 “O parrot… hanging upside down, who’s holding you?”
Parrot Fears
Mystic Kabir poetically says,
"drop the fear and bonding and you’re set free"

“O parrot… hanging upside down, who’s holding you?” - the hunters who capture parrots, first tie a rope between two trees. Along the rope, they fix small sticks. As the parrots land on these sticks, the sticks turn upside down because of their weight. Parrots hang in that upside-down position. The hanging parrot is afraid to let go of the stick, fearing it may fall down and die. It does numerous acts to fix and sit up. But the more it tries, the more it agonizes, fears. In all this fear and frustration, it completely forgets that it has wings and that it can fly. For a bird, there’s absolutely no question of falling down. This imaginary fear, binding & clinging are the causes of human misery too.

"Break free, they are not clinging to you but you are clinging to them"
